A DAY IN MADRID WITH NAGUISA
We plan out all the places we want to go, but there’s never enough time… and there are far too many things to discover!
Madrid is like a world within a world: teeming with monuments and steeped in history, but constantly evolving. It’s both modern and classical. Perhaps this marriage between tradition and innovation is what captivates us and keeps us coming back for more.
Today, we're taking a tour of some of our favorite places in this guide to 12 hours in Madrid.
Shopping at Rughara
As soon as we step off the AVE, we head to Rughara, one of our favorite shops.
It’s run by Vanesa, who is joy and energy personified. Inside, you’ll find a curated selection of national and international brands, including our own.
Vanesa has been selling Naguisa for years, and her shop was the first in Madrid to welcome us.

Lunch at El Viajero
By now, after trying on tons of dresses and shoes, hunger strikes. Touristy cliché or not, we can’t resist a good Spanish tortilla and a calamari sandwich.
El Viajero doesn’t disappoint. Laid-back food in the heart of La Latina, one of Madrid’s most popular neighborhoods.

Coffee at Pastora
And now for a sacred moment...the “sobremesa,” which is the time spent relaxing at the table after a good meal. Today, we’re enjoying a specialty coffee at Pastora while we plan our stops for the afternoon. We also grab a small souvenir from Quesería Cultivo to bring home with us.
Obviously, we can’t leave without indulging in some of Pastora’s natural wine.

Visit to Silvia Ferpal’s studio
Since we’re here, we travel a few more streets to visit artist and designer Silvia Ferpal at her studio.
Silvia welcomes us into her space (which used to be a haberdashery).It’s filled with the Risographs she sells on her website.

Housewares at Hecho
After finishing all our to-do’s for the day, we head back to where we started to explore one of the city’s newly-opened shops.
Hecho is a showroom for housewares made by the best national and international brands and designers.
Plus, several of the city's most promising architecture and interior design students share the space. It’s impossible to leave empty handed!

We return to our studio-workshop with that sense of longing that comes with knowing you’ve left many things undone in a city of endless possibilities. We’re anxious to start planning our next visit. See you then!
