UNEXPECTED SANDAL DRAMA TUTORIAL

As the saying goes, accidents happen. Nothing is worse than getting blisters from a new pair of shoes or something happening to your favorite sandals. To solve these problems, or even prevent them from happening, we’ve created a sandal and espadrille care guide for the summer:

(CASE 1) MY ESPADRILLES GOT WET

(Case 1)

Help, my espadrilles got wet! First, don’t panic.

Due to the natural porosity of jute, it absorbs water easily, which can deform the sole of the shoe and cause the fibers to rot. If the sole is only a little wet, you can dry your Naguisas with something you’re sure to have at home: a hair dryer. This will help evaporate the moisture without damaging the fibers. Avoid the temptation to leave them to dry in the sun as it may affect the color of the leather.

(CASE 2) WINE ON MY SANDALS

(2.1) APPLY TALCUM POWDER

(2.2) GENTLY BRUSH OFF

(Case 2)

Wine spilled on my sandals.

Don’t let it ruin your merrymaking. If your Naguisas get stained with wine, try to apply talcum powder to the stain as soon as possible. Leave the powder on to absorb the moisture and then gently brush off. Dampen a clean cloth with water and neutral soap and gently rub the stain. Leave to air dry.

(CASE 3) LOOSE THREAT

(3.1) CUT THE THREAT

(3.2) PUSH THE THREAT WITH A NEEDLE

(Case 3)

Oops! My espadrilles have a loose thread

This is super easy to fix. Just cut off the thread with scissors or thread snips. If you don’t feel confident snipping it, you can push the thread back in with a needle. They’ll look just like new.

(CASE 4) MY NEW SANDALS HURT ME

(Case 4)

My new sandals hurt my feet

The first few days wearing sandals, even if they aren’t new, can do a number on your feet. Warm weather can make the feet swell, and after so many winter months protected by socks and shoes, your feet are likely to experience some rubbing from your sandal straps. To prevent this, apply a moisturising cream to the shoe. Anti-chafe balm also works wonders!

(CASE 5) MY ESPADRILLES ARE COMING UNSTITCHED

(Case 5)

Help! My espadrilles are coming unstitched!

Our espadrilles are sewn by hand, so they may present small defects or come unstitched after some wear. If your Naguisas are new and the stitching is coming undone, send them back to us so we can fix them in our Studio Workshop in Sant Just. Or are your Naguisas from a few summers back? In that case, your trusted cobbler can help you fix them and leave them looking like new again.

We hope this short guide helps you keep your Naguisas in good order so they can accompany you on all your summer adventures.

Do you already have your companions for this summer?
