LAST DAYS OF SUMMER

Summer doesn’t end for a few more weeks but the calendar is already showing the date when we have to get back to our regular routine. As that carefree feeling fades away, the pebbled streets, the explosion of colours from the market stalls and the scent of the salty sea spray still remain in our memories.

Before we bid farewell to our beloved island, we walk along its steep paths, visit its delightful coves and immerse our feet in its crystalline waters for the last time. We stay up late, savouring its fruits, making plans and setting a not-too-distant date to return to this wonderful place.

Tomorrow we’ll head back towards routine, cloaked in a kind of uneasy joy. Back home, we’ll carry on wearing reminders of summer on our feet, dressing lightly and waiting for the first purple skies of September so we can make a little space in our wardrobes for the ingredients of a new autumn.

Even though this process has happened for a few years now, lowering the blinds and removing the sign from number 1 Nostra Senyora dels Dolors always feels like a little big melodrama.

Until Saturday 12th September, our boutique in Ciutadella, Menorca will remain open. If you live here or are on holiday, we invite you to drop in and say hi to Conxa, our colleague on the island.
