FIRST CONCEPTUAL MAPS OF THE WOMEN OF THE BAUHAUS
The idea to pay homage to the women of Bauhaus came about as a slow burn in the Naguisa studio. As each image, text, and material occurred to the design team throughout their search for inspiration for this new collection, a core concept started to take shape in their mind map: “The Women of Bauhaus.”

The question remained of how to connect this concept to the Mediterranean and the Naguisa spirit. The Bauhaus textile workshop, led by Gunta Stölzl, was the perfect place to start looking for examples of shapes, colors, and textures. Out of the workshop came tapestries and rugs with geometric prints, offering the team inspiration for new braiding and woven patterns for which Naguisa is known.
Naguisa’s distinctive palette of neutral hues evoking the warmth of the Mediterranean is complemented in ELLAS by bright primary colors, a characteristic hallmark of Anni Albers, Alma Buscher or Margaretha Reichardt.
SAMPLES OF METALLIC LEATHER
In a special nod to Bauhaus architecture, the collection features the addition of metallic fabrics, evoking the aesthetic and functionality of the work of Marianne Brandt and Lily Reich.
With work on the collection already underway, we decided to name the new styles in ELLAS SS24 after some of the renowned Bauhaus women. Therefore, our espadrilles Etel, Gunta, and Helga and braided sandals Margot, Alice, Edith, and others, are our tribute to the determination and resolve of these female artists who were (and continue to be) a point of inspiration.
