A walk through Ciutadella
Summer is swimming, reading and walking slowly through narrow streets between buildings of tangerine and peach colour, both shaded by palm and pomegranate trees. It is the season when the clock stops completely at siesta time and when meals drag on forever amid laughter. Now time is marked by the sun and the ringing of the cathedral bells.
Summer is synonymous with waking up early and going down to breakfast in the Plaça del Mercat. Disappearing among the green and white tiles and joking with the women in blue aprons. Loading up a basket with fish from the market, cheese, olive oil and wine with the flavour of the sun-drenched earth and going in search of some hidden place where you can soak up the sun.
Summer is knowing that June, July, August and September will pass by in a flash when you set foot on the rocky coves, where the Tramuntana wind beats down relentlessly, or when you come face to face with the image left by the steep farmlands dotted with shepherds' huts. Summer also brings with it the interest in discovering the work of local artisans, putting on some espadrilles and, riding a bicycle, touring the city from one end to the other.
Summer is spending the day chasing the blue sky along ancient coastal paths and trying to stop time on this beautiful island, so you can enjoy this landscape forever.
