TUTORIAL: EMBROIDERED BUTTON
MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO EMBROIDERY THE BUTTON
FINAL RESULT OF THE EMBROIDERED BUTTON
Working on the embroidery collection has opened up a range of wonderful sewing processes for us. Today we bring you a very easy and simple tutorial to personalize any item of clothing with buttons.
The technique is quite simple and in this case, we bring you a very simple design that consists of drawing the design of a flower or a leaf on the button with thread, using different colors to create contrast and give depth to the details. With a little practice and patience, you can design your own embroidered buttons that become the center of attention on any item of clothing.
What do you need?
· A button with 4 holes (we recommend a light-colored one)
· Embroidery thread in 2 different colors. One for the stem and one for the flower.
· Needle
· Pins
· A scrap of fabric (to practice)
START OF THE PREPARATION OF THE FLOWER STEM
First, we place the button so that the holes are in a cross (north-south-east and west) and we pass the needle with the thread we want for the stem, in our case green, from north to south.
Once you have threaded the fabric through, take a pin and pass it under the thread. Between the thread and the button, just to give some slack and so that neither the fabric nor the thread are too tight.
FINISH TO CHANGE THREAD COLOR
Next, pass the needle through the bottom hole and bring it to the right hole, drawing a leaf on the stem of the flower. Repeat the movement, so that the leaves have more volume than the stem. Then, find the bottom hole again and repeat the step, also twice, but now on the left side.
With the needle in the back of the fabric, tie a knot to change thread.
MAKING THE FLOWER WITH ANOTHER COLOR OF THREAD
With the needle ready with the new thread, insert it from the back of the fabric into the top hole and here, wrap the thread around the needle 3 or 4 times and pass the needle through the top hole again, making a 'French knot'.
TADA! FINAL RESULT
Tie a knot at the back and remove the pin... surprise, you now have your embroidered button!
