ESPADRILLE CARE TUTORIAL

MODEL: THALIS

The espadrille has become the perfect shoe to wear every day, from May to October, thanks to its comfort and versatility. Its vulcanized jute soles are suitable for sand, asphalt and grass. Depending on their design, they are also suitable for going to work, riding a bike or getting ready for an event. There is no more versatile and all-terrain shoe!
Because of that comfort that makes us not want to take them off our feet, the jute soles of espadrilles can suffer some alterations, but don't worry, below we show you how to take care of them so that they always look like new!
Below we detail a series of solutions for the most common problems:

Has a thread come out of the jute sole?
No problem! You can rest assured that your espadrille will not come undone. The soles are made up of many fibers and these are sewn together by several threads. If one of them has decided to run away, here are two options:
A. Simply trim it flush with the sole.
B. Using an awl or sharp object, insert the end of the thread into the sole.

Has the rubber sole come off?
Jute soles are finished with a rubber sole that protects the fibers from asphalt, stones or water. Sometimes this sole can come loose due to use or exposure to extreme temperatures. If this is the case, you have 2 options:
A. If you are handy, stick it on with contact adhesive. You can find it at any hardware store.
B. Take your Naguisa to your trusted shoemaker. He will surely know what to do :)
Did your espadrilles get wet?
Jute fibers are not very fond of water, but if you have stepped in a puddle or been caught in a summer storm, we have some solutions.
A. If the sole has gotten a little wet, you can dry it with a hair dryer. Avoid putting them in the sun as this can alter the color of the leather.
B. If, on the other hand, the sole has absorbed a lot of water and has swollen, it will be time to retire your Naguisa :(
Has it come undone at any point?
The espadrilles are hand-stitched by artisans and it may be that due to use or the force we exert when walking, at some point the jute sole becomes unstitched from the leather upper. If this is the case, send us a photo to customercare@naguisa.com and we will consider collecting them for repair in our studio-workshop.
Has your skin become stained?
It is logical that, with use, the leather may suffer friction or stains. As with any shoe, here is a small care tutorial:
A. First of all, use an eraser to clean any marks or scratches on the skin.
B. Take a clean, slightly damp cloth and wipe away any stuck-on dirt.
C. Let the shoes dry in a dry place away from the sun.
D. Add a COLORLESS nourishing cream and spread gently with a sponge.
E. Using a soft bristle brush, polish the espadrille to restore the leather's natural shine.
Remember that to keep the shape of your espadrilles, it is ideal to make balls of newspaper or similar and use them as a shoe tree. This way, you will avoid them getting crushed and losing their shape when you store them.
Shoes have a life, if you take care of them, you will prolong it.
