WALKING WITH MY FLATS, BY YOLANDA ARANDA

For me, summer is all about putting on my BEMOLs . Twelve summers ago, I was living in Madrid, and half a year earlier, my friend Carola had opened a store in Barcelona with a selection of local brands. As usual, we shared our daily experiences, and Carola, besides being a friend, was my confidant and trusted supplier of "fashion items."

One day, he showed me a pair of yellow espadrilles that instantly caught my attention. With a nostalgic air, they reminded me of the rubber sandals I'd been so happy wearing as a child. Those espadrilles were my gateway to the Naguisa universe.

Shortly after, a beautiful box with a jute handle arrived at my door. From that moment on, my BEMOL mustards became my inseparable summer companions . Whether I was in Madrid, Galicia, or wherever I traveled during the summer, those BEMOLs were always in my suitcase.

This summer I had to renew them. I have been faithful to the color that won me over (it has been difficult to resist the selection of beautiful colors this season) and with my new BEMOLs I have set out to enjoy some plans around the city. A cold horchata, an exhibition, a walk through the streets of Barcelona and a stop at my favorite bookstore to look for a book to keep my Naguisa company this summer in my suitcase.

Twelve years after I first put them on, I can assure you that these espadrilles, with their padded sole, are still the ideal companion for any plan!
