SHOP STORIES: IVORI

Together with Carola Alexandre and her store Ivori , we have traced a history of joint learning, friendship and new goals. In 2012 Carola raised the shutters of her cozy store in the Barcelona neighborhood of Born. Among garments designed by her and others from local brands, our first collection of shoes appeared.

Ivori is a magical space where brands that combine respect, tradition and design come together. After almost 10 years of admiration, today Carola invites us to discover more about her project.

N: How would you define yourself? (A brief explanation about yourself)

C: I am passionate about music, I love Radiohead. I love spending time with my partner and our dog Camila. Walking around Barcelona and sharing moments drinking good wine with my friends. I consider myself a very social person, always ready to do something, go to the theatre to see a dance piece, I really like what Ohad Naharin does, for example. I like fashion, obviously! Looking for inspiration in vintage shops, especially when I travel, so I can then design the collections for my brand Ivori.

N: Do you remember when you opened Ivori? Could you tell us the story that led to the opening of your own business?

C: Of course, on December 1, 2012, I remember that day perfectly. I opened the shutters of my business for the first time and I couldn't be more excited and nervous at the same time. I had been thinking about having my own business for a long time, but with that fear that always comes with taking the plunge. Now, with pride, I can say that 9 years have passed and here I am, opening the shutters to be able to share moments with the people who visit Ivori in search of quality, local design made with a lot of love.

N: I'm sure there is a moment as an entrepreneur that you will always remember…

C: There are many! Something I love is being able to meet the people behind each of the brands I sell, knowing what inspires them, how they got to where they are... It's one of the things I like most about my business, dealing with people.

N: What do you think Naguisa's philosophy brings to Ivori? And to your clients?

C: For me, Naguisa goes hand in hand with Ivori. I met Claudia and Pablo a few months after opening the store and we have been here ever since, working together. We both believe in the same values. Naguisa offers quality, comfortable footwear with a design that my clients love, some end up buying more than one pair each season! That says it all ;)

N: How would you define working with the Naguisa team? For you, that is what makes us different.

C: It is always a pleasure to deal with each of the team members. After so many years working together, the bond has grown and they are now part of the Ivori family. It was one of the first firms I worked with and it is still here. Here's to many more years together Naguisa!

N: Of all our designs to date, which is your favorite?

C: Without a doubt, the "Ila red" braided model. I kept the first edition of this shoe that they released, a few years ago, and I still keep them with great affection. It is without a doubt a staple in my wardrobe.
