GIVE NAGUISA AS A GIFT: TUTORIALS FOR WRAPPING THEM

FUROSHIKI TECHNIQUE MATERIALS

If you are looking for an original and elegant way to wrap your gifts this Christmas, we recommend a couple of tutorials inspired by the Japanese techniques of Origami and Furoshiki .

The first one we encourage you to try is the Japanese tutorial on wrapping without adhesive tape. This method, inspired by origami, is easy to follow and will allow you to wrap your gifts in an elegant and durable way, without having to use a lot of materials.

What do you need? Just wrapping paper and a pair of scissors.

ORIGAMI TECHNIQUE MATERIALS

First, calculate the paper you need. To do this, the easiest way is to turn the 4 sides of the Naguisa box over the paper stretched on a flat surface. Mark the measurement with a pencil and proceed to cut the wrapping paper lengthwise, folding the sheet diagonally and forming a triangle. This way, you will have a square with the necessary measurements. If you prefer to use a ruler, we can tell you in advance that for the box of winter espadrilles , sneakers and shoes , the paper measurements should be 65x65 cm. and for the boxes of ankle boots and chunky boots , it will be 85x85 cm.

Next, place the shoe box in the center of the triangle and fold the sides of the paper around the box. First, take the bottom corner and place it on the box. Run your finger along the bottom right crease to create another fold, this time on the side. Repeat on the other side.

Once the gift is covered on 3 sides, hold the paper with one hand and with the index finger of the other hand, mark the edges of the leftover paper.

The next technique is Furoshiki, a traditional Japanese wrapping method used to wrap objects in an elegant and practical way. It is made by using a rectangular piece of cloth, which is folded and tied in different ways to wrap the objects. Furoshiki has become popular as a sustainable way to cover gifts.

What do you need? Just a scrap or a handkerchief of fabric measuring 80 cm x 80 cm

First, spread the fabric or handkerchief on a flat surface and place the Naguisa box on top, so that it is diagonal. For this example we have used a scrap of linen, but you can use any printed fabric and the thickness you prefer. Keep in mind that the thinner the fabric, the easier it will be to handle.

FUROSHIKI TECHNIQUE MATERIALS

Take two opposite ends of the fabric and tie them together with a small knot. Keep in mind that this side will be the back of the gift, so pull it tight to make it as flat as possible.

Next, with the other two ends, we bring them up, hiding the folds of the fabric inwards. Finally, tie a knot with the two ends… and you will have your gift perfectly wrapped!

Add some details and personalize a gift that is sure to be a hit.

Give Naguisa this Christmas!

We have extended the return period until January 31st.
