READING CLUB: SEEDS

With a view to the new year and all the goals we have set ourselves to achieve, on this occasion we propose a reading born from optimism for a better world. SEMILLAS is a book created and self-produced by Cristina Camarena and Vanesa Freixa, where both of them present the bases of various solutions to make tomorrow a better world.

We invite you to join our book club and discover how we all have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful change in our communities and our countries, and we have never had a more important time to defend the values ​​we share.

The pandemic has given us a unique opportunity to think about the kind of future we want. Finding ourselves in a situation that required immediate action has made us aware of the many environmental crises lurking just around the corner.

From the uneasiness, fear, helplessness and anger that has been hovering over us since mid-2020, we have united, strengthened our communities and supported and empathized with brands and people who had a purpose behind them. We have channeled the negative and turned it into action, a union of forces and a flood of creative ideas.

With a journey that ranges from the individual to the collective, SEMILLAS marks a path for our progress in building a more just and inclusive world for future generations. Indigenous culture, forest schools, social justice, ecofeminism and agroecology are the sowing of 'small, big seeds' that bring us closer to regeneration.

At Naguisa we have always defended these values. Our commitment is based on the belief that the future is local: our productions began as a regenerative project for some of the jute worker communities in this country. With the expansion of our collections, we have also seen how several guilds that work in shoe crafts have aged, diminished and disappeared, thereby losing the wisdom of someone who masters the trade and also neglecting the seed that could be planted by someone younger and without as much experience.

That is why over the years, through our blog, social networks, website... we have been showing the manufacturing process and introducing you to the people behind each pair of shoes, with the intention of not only spreading the care that there is but also infecting you with the beauty of this craft, which is getting closer to extinction every day.
