알리칸테 여행

After spending a few months designing the future 2015 collection in our Barcelona workshop, we travelled to Alicante where we worked with the factory and suppliers in the area to present the new models. Upon arriving in Alicante, after a long but pleasant journey by car, we headed to the factory in the small town of Elda. Alicante is known throughout Spain for its long tradition of shoemaking. This factory is responsible for making what is technically known as assembled models. Our hand-stitched jute models are produced in La Rioja and the Basque Country. Once the meeting with the factory was over, we went to visit the rest of the suppliers we have in the area in order to learn about their latest products and discuss service dates, among other things. We closed the stage in Elda and took the car to El Badena, a town located a few kilometres away where our jute flooring supplier is located. This factory is responsible for everything, from the production of the braid to the making of the floors. As you enter, you can hear the constant, relaxing sound of the machines that braid the jute. You can hear it for yourself in our Footwear Story: Jute. There we saw how braids are produced and their different ranges. You can personalise the braid itself, dyeing the jute and introducing threads of different colours into the same braid. Afterwards, the production process of the soles begins. We also went to visit our ribbon supplier and saw how they weave them in situ. There are endless combinations of colours, materials and prints that can be made in order to personalise them. To finish the trip, we stopped at the Elda Footwear Museum. In the museum you can find the first machines that were used to sew, cut, assemble... and a large sample of the shoes that have been made throughout history. See you next month in Alicante to check the status of the 2015 collection!
