This is where the magic happens

Our designs speak of comfort, femininity and quality, but also call for preserving the ancient textile traditions related to handmade footwear . Our espadrilles symbolize the creation of opportunities for Spanish craftsmanship and the pride of having grown with the help of these professionals who have dedicated their entire lives to this beautiful craft.
When we embarked on the adventure of rediscovering traditional jute footwear seven years ago, we searched the mountains, meadows and sea for the origin of this tradition of wearing comfortable shoes. The path led us to meet various groups of artisans who have been making espadrilles for generations.
There we discovered that, after a contemporary process imbued with reminiscences of the past, one of our sketches in the hands of a craftsman, became a sandal .
The jute skeins change — almost by magic — from being a tangle of fibres to a perfect braid. After rotating rhythmically on a table, these begin to take shape and you can see what will soon become a sole.
After carefully reinforcing the shoe, the craftsmen add a layer of natural rubber using a vulcanisation process. In this way, they transform a natural material into a compact shoe that insulates the feet from the cold, humidity and heat, so that they can enjoy the summer days and nights.

The process that makes each of our designs unique is determined by the materials, each one carefully chosen so that comfort always prevails in each collection. The leather uppers or cotton fabrics are tied to the sole using a process that has existed for centuries. The stitching that joins the upper to the sole is created thanks to the know-how and dedication of the craftsmen and women who hand-sew each pair of espadrilles.
With this delicate process, based on the skills and dedication of these local artisans, Naguisa guarantees a high-quality espadrille, which retains all the charm of a tradition that has lasted since the 13th century.
