NAGUISA + SUEÑOS NEGROS: HOW TO WEAR YOUR ESPADRILLES ON VACATION

The relationship between Sueños Negros and Naguisa dates back almost to the beginning of this adventure. Mariona, the woman behind Sueños Negros, opens the doors of her store on Paseo Gracia to tell us about this journey and talk to us about her new space Sueños Negros in Fornells (Menorca). Who is Mariona? How would you define yourself?

Since I was little, I have loved drawing and that is how I chose the branch of fashion design. My goal was to open a multi-brand store, I am good at anticipating trends... but first I wanted to immerse myself in what is behind a finished piece. I love animals and nature, so my pieces have to be, above all, comfortable. I have a thing for retro looks from the 50s and 80s. I am sentimental and I think that is reflected in the designs and brands we have at Sune. I am not interested in marketing or Instagrammers, I am zero technological, but I am attracted to a good story behind the brand: good patterns with environmentally friendly fabrics, all this at a fair price.

The Sueños Negros team has selected the Miru, Senta, and Fumarola models to offer versatile, heat-friendly looks for vacations.

The first one brings us those '80s references Mariona was referring to: a basic T-shirt look with an animal print skirt, fluid and comfortable, and a matching fanny pack. What would summer be without fanny packs? The Senta espadrilles , suitable for all foot types, add extra comfort.

You've just opened a Sueños Negros in Menorca. What led you to this decision? What's your connection to the island? What can we find here that we don't have in stores in Barcelona?

We opened in Menorca (Fornells) because this is where my husband and I chose to put down roots, an island where the people are respectful and hardworking, and where my daughter and pets roam freely. Menorcans are also very "be Sune, be happy."

This all-white look with a tote bag and espadrilles couldn't be more Menorcan. The black-checked Miru sandals add a unique touch to this off-white cotton ensemble that's perfect for any island getaway.

How would you define working with the Naguisa team? For you, what makes us different?

Naguisa is very me, with a nostalgic air and comfortable shapes for picking tomatoes or going out to dinner in the village in the summer. It's a lovely brand! I like that they follow their instincts; that's what makes a brand unique.

The third look Sueños Negros suggests is more urban and a winning combo: a white tank top with jeans. The special touch for going out to dinner, as Mariona suggests? The light gold Fumarola style , some distinctive sunglasses , and a printed tote bag that fits everything.

Of our designs to date, which is your favorite? How do you like to wear it?

My favorite design, how difficult! I have more than one: Etel and Peonía for summer. I wear them with my oversized plaid or linen dresses or my baggy cotton ankle-length pants with elastic.
