INTERVIEW WITH LORENA FERNANDEZ

Lorena Fernandez is a woman of magnetism. In light of her popular Instagram account, @nasualua , she has remained incredibly authentic, avoiding the obvious pitfalls of being a social media icon for many people.

N.: Could you briefly define yourself?
LF: Thanks to you, it is a pleasure to share space with such inspiring women. If you had asked me to define myself a little over a year ago, the answer would probably have been different than it is now. Last year, in the midst of the pandemic, I became a mother and that has been a revolution in every sense: a search for my identity, getting to know myself again, finding new nuances, new priorities... I think the new Lorena is more patient, more empathetic and prioritizes her time much better.

N.: Your work and life have been closely linked to social media. How do you see the future of influencer culture?
LF: As for the “influencer” culture, I am not very clear how or in what direction it will evolve. To begin with, I think that this adjective is used too much and too lightly. In reality, few people have a real level of influence and, often, it has little to do with the followers that person has on their social networks. I only hope that we are critical and choose very carefully which references we have and to what extent they influence our decision-making.

N.: Since you are a great guide creator, could you recommend your favorite place in Lisbon? And in Barcelona?
LF: Thank you very much! My favourite places tend to change and after this health crisis that we have had to live through, many of the restaurants, cafes or shops that were among my favourites have unfortunately had to close their doors. Right now I am leaning towards public places, those that no matter how many pandemics come, will continue to make us fall in love with their beauty. I would say that in Lisbon I would choose the Jardim do Torel because it is a very special and quiet corner of the city, with different levels (typical in Lisbon) and with a park where you can lie down and enjoy magical views. From Barcelona I would perhaps choose a square in the Les Corts neighbourhood: the Plaça de la Concòrdia. The neighbours buying the newspaper at the kiosk, the children running after the ball, some friends who enter the beautiful modernist civic centre... it seems like a beautiful place to me.

N.: We remind you of our beginnings in La Granja, when we had a studio in the mountains. Do you remember how you met us?
LF: Yes! I've been a fan of Naguisa since the beginning, I think. I don't remember exactly how I met you (maybe in the Ivori store in El Born) but what I know for sure is that it was love at first sight and since I bought my first sandals (a model of espadrilles that you no longer have) I have bought them again every summer. I have never worn sandals that are so comfortable and I always speak wonders of you because I love you, with all my heart.

N.: Could you describe your ideal summer?
LF: The ideal summer for me would be one that I could live respecting its slow and leisurely rhythms. I imagine myself surrounded by the people I love the most, in a nice, cool house, near the beach, eating fresh fruit all day long and with no worries other than living. The Italian summer from the film Call me by your name came to mind. It could be something like that, it wouldn't be bad, right?

N.: We hope you enjoy your Marga shoes very much and that they accompany you for many summers and to many beautiful places. Do you know when you will wear them for the first time? :)
LF: Thank you! I'm sure they will be with me for many wonderful summers, just like the rest of the Naguisas. I have a very beautiful wedding in July and I want to wear them for the first time on that day... although I don't know if I can wait that long! It will be hard to resist...
