CHRONOLOGY OF OUR SOC RIBBON MODEL

Classics always endure. Some symbols of traditional culture have managed to become part of the fashion landscape. Whether for their comfort, versatility or their reminiscences, the SOC ribbon espadrille model has established itself as one of our best sellers.

More than 9 years ago, Pablo and Claudia set themselves the challenge of reinventing the archetypal ribbon espadrille and turning it into an original and contemporary design. After a delicate design process, they reimagined the classic espadrille and adapted it to the urban environment, decontextualizing it and turning it into a modern jute espadrille for everyday use.

This is how SOC became an instant hit. Those pastel-coloured Japanese ribbons, combined with a natural cowhide leather back, won over internationally renowned brands such as Anthropologie and Toast and became a household name for women all over the world, as a comfortable and original shoe to enjoy the summer.

Throughout this decade, Naguisa, through various collaborations, has reinterpreted the SOC ribbon espadrille in special ways. Join us on this journey through the history of our most coveted original espadrille.

Summer 2013

The SOC espadrille bow has graced the covers of international magazines such as ELLE and some of Naguisa's first points of sale, such as Mihise in San Sebastian. Its easy-to-mix pastel colours make it one of the hits of the collection.

Summer 2015

Following the success achieved last summer, Naguisa launches the LAN model. A reinterpretation that combines the straps of the SOC model with a lined cork platform, mountain sole and wooden heel.

Summer 2016

Our original ribbon espadrille goes one step further and becomes a sporty yet elegant shoe. We launch the SOC Runner model, which combines the elegance of satin ribbons with a jute sole and an EVA rubber base that provides a more casual look.

Summer 2017

Following the success of our SOC model, we created a series of workshops to create your own pair of SOC espadrilles. The Naguisa studio-workshop opens and Pablo and Claudia, founders of the brand, teach workshops and share the knowledge of creating a ribbon espadrille while praising the value of artisanal products.

Summer 2018

We collaborated with artist María Yelletisch on a reinterpretation of the SOC model. María's proposal focuses on the edition of silkscreened ribbons with motifs from the artist's paintings. In this version, a clog-style rubber sole is added and a palette of vibrant primary colours is chosen.

Winter 2020

Almost premonitory, in August 2021 Naguisa turns the summer SOC model into a home espadrille version. With confinement and the search for comfort, the DOM model becomes one of the season's favourites thanks to its sheepskin lining and cotton straps.

Summer 2020

In 2020, Naguisa is betting on turning SOC into a total black model; simple, combinable and versatile. The straps, the leather on the back and the jute on the sole are all dyed black. Two years later, this is still one of the best sellers that sells out the fastest.

The SOC model by Naguisa transcends the years and variations. It is an espadrille destined to be worn. A timeless icon that will continue to conquer wardrobes and share summer walks through cities and towns.
